You will work across mechanical, optical, and analytical disciplines to ensure that complex mechanical systems, sub-systems, and mechanisms come together into a robust, high-performance product.
You will take ownership of overseeing the lifecycle of the mechanical systems, ensuring that they integrate seamlessly with one another.
You will have a BSc (or higher) in a scientific or technical discipline, and bring prior experience working in a regulated clinical research environment or the healthcare industry, with preference given to those with Medical Device experience.
You will be adept at troubleshooting, and able to translate technical aspects to non-technical users.
You will characterise, optimise, scale, and validate the R&D team’s unique ophthalmic production processes, ensuring they are robust, repeatable, and scalable. As this is a completely new optical system, the role requires a high degree of creativity, along with a proactive, hands-on engineering approach to developing novel and often complex production processes.
You will have a BSc (or higher) in Statistics or Mathematics. Previous experience working in a regulated or manufacturing environment, and SAS/R programming are advantageous. We will expect you to be able to successfully contribute to and manag a small number of projects, and work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds to explain statistical concepts to them.
You will need to have completed a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or have a higher education qualification (such as a ONC, HNC, HND or degree) in a related subject.
You will also be required to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with your peers and other departments and to maintain a high standard of record keeping as required by our stringent quality systems.
