You will join the Centre for Advanced Laser Technology and Applications (CALTA) team and support the high peak power 100 Hz and 1 kHz projects by developing laser designs, setting up prototype systems and conducting experimental test campaigns.

You will take part in international collaborations and routinely engage with external experts.

You will have the ability to maintain strong external collaborations that enhance the science of the Franklin. This role, as part of the senior scientific team, will ensure that the Franklin is internationally leading and has a sustainable financial model.

You will also mentor the development of junior staff as required, supervise students and support aspect(s) of management of the Institute.

You will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories for structural and cellular biology embedded at eBIC and within the Research Complex at Harwell to pursue your research.

You will demonstrate expertise and a proven track record in cryoEM methods. A strong background in in situ structural biology, particularly cryoFIB/SEM, cryo-electron tomography and sub-tomogram averaging is highly desirable.
