You will work on a rail milling train, a highly specialised on-track machine that uses precision cutting heads to remove rail defects and restore rail profile. Rail milling is cleaner and more controlled than rail grinding, producing metal swarf rather than heavy airborne dust, and requires strong capability across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and safety-critical systems.

You will produce machined parts from engineering drawings to a high level of accuracy, using all standard engineering workshop machinery (Manual and CNC lathes, milling machines etc.).
You will have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to inform and explain technical elements to stakeholders with a varying degree of technical knowledge.
