You will be working as an SEN Teaching Assistant at a Special Needs School in Abingdon, supporting primary-age children with a diverse range of needs.
You will support a small class of 8 to 10 students, working alongside the class teacher and another teaching assistant to create a fun and exciting learning environment.
You will work with pupils across a range of age groups, including students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, and additional learning needs.
You will have adventures with our children through interactive play, activities, reading, and encouraging their curious minds – supporting colleagues with each child’s development towards their key milestones. What we’re looking for
You will be supporting children aged 3 to 16 with moderate learning difficulties, as well as children with autism and communication difficulties.
You will encourage positive social interactions and help students build effective relationships with their peers, while enhancing their communication skills.
You will also help manage any challenging behaviour that may arise, and encourage positive decision making.
You will gain a first-hand insight into development and neurodiversity, as well as the therapeutic and restorative methods used to help engage Autistic children. This will give you the experience essential to train as a Psychologist or Therapist in the future.
You will support pupils across a variety of settings, both in and out of the classroom, and work on a 1:1 and small-group basis with children who benefit from tailored learning activities.
