You will be responsible for leading on work and projects within the highways civil engineering team, delivering infrastructure projects efficiently, cost effectively and to client standards and requirements, whilst providing support on various design and maintenance duties.

You will be responsible for creating optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications for products, parts, components, and systems, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for performance, reliability, durability, and serviceability. Key Responsibilities: - Lead design and development for complex engineering assignments.
You will support risk assessments, contaminated land assessments, and geotechnical design inputs on projects across Durham and the wider region.
You will also liaise with contractors, laboratories, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, and to budget.
You will lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, taking ownership from concept through to detailed design and validation. This is a product-focused role requiring strong CAD capability and the ability to work independently with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier stakeholders.
You will lead on the management of Northumbrian Water Group’s appointed and non-appointed property portfolio, ensuring all land and property assets are effectively managed, compliant, and ensuring effective asset utilisation and income security.
You will ensure Northumbrian Water’s property assets deliver value, are legally secure, and support business continuity.
