You will have the freedom to break processes apart, troubleshoot deeply, and make meaningful improvements in real-world rail technology.
You will prepare, configure, and test survey and sensing systems, support R&D testing and product development, run Factory Acceptance Testing, and install and commission systems on rail vehicles and platforms.
You will be qualified to HNC level or higher in an Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering discipline, however proven industry experience backed up by a recognised engineering apprenticeship will be considered.
You will also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of accomplishing your objectives, working proactively, and managing your own time effectively.
You will work across mechanical, optical, and analytical disciplines to ensure that complex mechanical systems, sub-systems, and mechanisms come together into a robust, high-performance product.
You will take ownership of overseeing the lifecycle of the mechanical systems, ensuring that they integrate seamlessly with one another.
You will work 3 x 8-hour shifts each week with shifts scheduled on different days each week.
You will be invited to take a tour of the site, giving you the opportunity to meet the team for a question-and-answer session
You will be required to work any 3 days out of 7 doing 8 hour shifts, and will be provided with further information during pre-boarding.
You will characterise, optimise, scale, and validate the R&D team’s unique ophthalmic production processes, ensuring they are robust, repeatable, and scalable. You will be qualified to HNC level or higher in an Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering discipline, however proven industry experience backed up by a recognised engineering apprenticeship will be considered.
You will also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of accomplishing your objectives, working proactively, and managing your own time effectively.
You will play a key role in the development of the company’s novel lens system, contributing from early concept through to production. Key Responsibilities The Mechanisms Engineer will: - Design and develop micro-mechanisms for precision optical applications - Integrate micro-mechanisms into the company’s optical systems
You will need to have completed a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or have a higher education qualification (such as a ONC, HNC, HND or degree) in a related subject.
You will also be required to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with your peers and other departments and to maintain a high standard of record keeping as required by our stringent quality systems.
You will be working in an R&D environment, so will need to be able to demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
You will bring strong experience in PLC (Siemens S7), HMI, Motion Control, Vision Systems, Instrumentation and PID control systems, and additional skills in databases would be beneficial.

You will also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of leading projects and/or a team of skilled engineers, having a future focused long-term vision and most importantly a history and enthusiasm of idea generation and application of new or existing technologies.
You will need to have completed a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or have a higher education qualification (such as a ONC, HNC, HND or degree) in a related subject.
You will also be required to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with your peers and other departments and to maintain a high standard of record keeping as required by our stringent quality systems.
