engineering shift manager jobs in Colchester

You will lead, coach and develop a shift-based engineering team while remaining actively involved in maintenance, breakdown response, fabrication and improvement work. You'll play a key role in improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime and building a high-performance, safety-first culture.

You will deal with complaints promptly in an open and honest way

You will ensure that each shift runs as smoothly as possible and that our values form part of your shift management

You will be expected to lead from the front, you will be hands on most of the time, working on the line and dining area

You will make sure our residents are safe and comfortable.

You will act as a champion for their safety and dignity.

You will lead the team in providing quality, individualised care for our residents in line with procedures and policies.

You will make sure that clear, accurate records are kept.

You will also be tasked with implementing effective and productive maintenance systems and processes within the function of the team whilst being the go to technical hub for maintenance and operations issues, health & safety compliance and standards. Candidates with Maintenance Team, Maintenance Operations and Contractor Leadership experience are encouraged to apply.

You will lead an established Test Engineering organisation and play a key role in improving the consistency, effectiveness, and scalability of testing across teams, with a strong focus on quality outcomes and customer confidence. This is a player–coach role, requiring you to remain technically hands-on while also developing people, standards, and ways of working.
