You will be responsible for working with our employment team to facilitate employment opportunities and assisting and supporting our members to enjoy an active social life.
You will be required to provide personal care, work flexible hours which will involve working early and late shifts, (typically between 0700 & 2200), every other weekend and bank holidays in accordance with member need.
You will support a young person with a history of significant trauma, neurodevelopmental needs (including ADHD and communication difficulties), and complex behaviours which may include dysregulation, heightened emotional distress, and absconding risk. This is not a routine residential role.
You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.
You must be willing to be flexible and able to work at a fast pace.
You will need to be a confident practitioner with a good understanding of the Social work role to ensure effective multi disciplinary working. We work flexibly throughout the whole service, this includes; D2A, Crisis response, intermediate care and the hospital.
You will be required to do some SEN support with the students and the community.
You will then need to go and do some support work in the community.
You will need to be comfortable liaising with social services and other parties to best support the young people.
You must drive and have access to your own car for this role – and be willing to get business insurance on your vehicle.
You will also provide a friendly and professional welcome to residents coming in and out of the building and spend time with residents who are in the communal areas.
You will facilitate a daily activity for the residents e.g. cooking, gardening or social activities.
You must have excellent customer service, IT and admin skills and a positive approach to team working.
You will help to create a warm, stimulating environment whilst working a mix of day shifts and sleeps to meet individual needs. You’ll do more than provide care – you’ll be a mentor, advocate, and source of encouragement, helping the people you support to achieve their own individual outcomes.
You will lead by example, maintaining the highest standards of care and providing guidance to the team on shift.
You will also develop strong relationships with the team and the people we support to ensure a calm, positive night-time environment and the best possible outcomes.
You will be a strong fit for this role if you:Have experience working with children or young people (youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, residential care, school experience, etc.). Can remain calm, patient, and supportive when dealing with emotional or behavioural challenges.
You will be able to demonstrate skills in relating to children who have barriers to learning, including additional learning needs.
You will be able to communicate and deal with pupils in a calm but firm manner in small groups or on a one to one basis, both in school, ensuring that every student is making progress in line with their ability.
