You will encourage residents to take part in group and individual activities in the home and in the wider community, with the staff team, 7 days a week, ensuring all activities are planned and are tailored to the needs and abilities of the residents. You will follow therapeutic practice, and help each child to regulate their own emotions and cope with the mental challenges they face on a daily basis.
You will also provide general assistance to the class teacher, and help liaise with on-site Psychologists and Therapists to ensure each child is getting the most out of their education.
You will assist in the daily running of the school site, carrying out maintenance, site security, minor repairs, and assisting with school events and deliveries. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in building maintenance, a flexible attitude, and strong attention to detail.
You will need to be an excellent motivator and be willing to persevere to help children raise their self-esteem and learn new skills.
You will need to be available during school hours: 8:30-15:30. This work is term-time only, the school prefers people who can offer 5 days a week, but they will consider people who can work a minimum of two days a week.
